Spring on the Cornish coast
Welcome a new season by the Cornish coast.
Spring is when the coast around Looe and Polperro comes gently back to life. The mornings get brighter, the harbour busier, and the cliff paths turn green again after winter. It's a lovely time for a few days away — unhurried walks, a long lunch somewhere warm, and evenings settled back at a comfortable holiday home.
Foxes Lair and Hedgehogs Home at Granite Henge, Trelawne Cross, sit just outside Looe and a short drive from Polperro. Both are warm, self-catering retreats with two bedrooms and space for up to four guests — an easy base for couples and small families to enjoy South East Cornwall as the season turns. March and April are quiet and restorative; from May, the outdoor heated pool opens too.

March and April escapes
Early spring is one of the quietest, most restorative times to be near the coast. The days are getting longer, the villages are calm, and the first warmth brings the cliffs and hedgerows back to life. It's a lovely time for unhurried walks, a long lunch somewhere warm, and evenings settled back at a comfortable holiday home — without the summer crowds.
The outdoor heated pool is closed throughout March and April — it opens on 1 May. Early-spring stays are all about the coast, the villages and a welcoming retreat to come back to.

May stays with the heated outdoor pool
From 1 May, the shared outdoor heated swimming pool at Granite Henge opens for the season — and a May break is one of the loveliest ways to use it. The days are longer, the garden is coming into bloom, and there's time for a swim and a relaxed afternoon before settling in for the evening. Guests at both Foxes Lair and Hedgehogs Home share the pool.
Pool season: open 1 May – 30 September.
The pool is closed throughout March and April and reopens on 1 May. It is shared between properties at Granite Henge and is seasonal, not available year-round. Neither Foxes Lair nor Hedgehogs Home has a private hot tub.
